I was inspired to create this watercolor painting after a trip to Costa Rica. There, I had the good fortune to witness the long trek of baby sea turtles to the sea after hatching. I also learned that baby turtles are never united with their birth mother. They face the entire world alone from the moment they hatch. Using my artistic license, I decided to paint them together. I am often inspired by my travels and particularly ocean scenes - above and below the surface! I find my greatest peace and happiness at the water's edge. Through this piece I hope to share my love of the ocean and remind viewers of the amazing journey that nature has cast upon these magnificent creatures.
Artist Biography:
Daphne holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Painting, Sculpture and Graphic Arts from UCLA. Her first job out of college was working for Walt Disney. There she documented all art processes that were used in building Disney theme park rides. During her subsequent career she held positions for several trade publications, not-for-profits, and advertising agencies as a graphic designer, advertising, and production manager, marketing director and executive director. She is currently retired from her corporate job and spends full time working in the arts.
Artist Statement:
I am an artist based in the city of Temecula, specializing in watercolor. My paintings focus on water scenes from under the sea to along the shore. Through my art, I invite the viewer to immerse themselves in the timeless ebb and flow of the ocean, to revel in its boundless power and ethereal serenity. Each brushstroke is infused with an unspoken reverence for the magnificence of nature, resulting in captivating works that epitomize the essence of coastal life.
