Artist Biography:
My artist experience began with my first marks with my crayons. My family didn't have the means to provide me with many materials but I drew on any blank paper that could be found. I was strongly praised an encouraged and eventually found my artist "voice " in college. I studied under the late Salvatore Pecoraro at De Anza college in Cupertino, CA. My airbrush painting "The Face" was awarded first place and $300 purchase prize in 1970. It still hangs in the Student Center at the college. As the years passed and I focused on work and family I seldom painted. However, during retirement I have found a wonderful resource within Art on 30th in San Diego, CA painting under the supervision of gallery owner, Kate Ashton. I have been producing artwork since 2018 and have been featured in shows at Ashton Gallery, San Diego Watercolor Society, Woodward Contemporary, Las Lagunas Art Gallery, and recently at North Coastal Art Gallery in Carlsbad.
Artist Statement:
I create acrylic and mixed media abstractions through an intuitive process of layering and response. My work is less about representation and more about rhythm, texture, and emotion. Each painting evolves in the balance between control and release, inviting viewers to find their own meanings in the spaces I create.
