Artist Biography

Dollar Davis represents a collection of original paintings and prints in the style of Western Pop Art and Americana. The paintings are created digitally and then come to life with precise lasers that cut sheets of wood into individual sections. Each part is independently painted and then put together to produce the final piece. The pseudonym is used by Los Angeles based artist and photographer Brian Davis. The name is a tribute to his ancestor Dollar Davis, a fellow woodworker who came west to America in 1634.


Artist Statement

Raised in a tract home near the beach in South Orange County California, photographer Brian Davis’s visual journey has landed in a unique mythical western world as seen through the eyes of Dollar Davis.Inspired by the revolutionary musical scores written by Sergio Leone and his take on American Western films, Dollar Davis embodies a world where traditional iconic western themes and tropes take on a fresh graphic reinvention.
