Biography
Miche Lane is a North Carolina–based artist whose paintings wander freely between abstraction and impressionism, much like the landscapes and wildlife that inspire them. Drawing from forests, mountains, and the quiet presence of animals in the wild, Lane creates work that captures the spirit of a place rather than its exact appearance.
Her process is intuitive and exploratory. Layers of color, texture, and expressive brushwork build gradually, allowing the painting to evolve in unexpected directions. A hint of a forest edge, the suggestion of an animal portrait emerging from the paint, or the energy of wind through trees may appear, dissolve, and reappear in new forms across the canvas.
Lane’s work invites viewers to slow down and look a little longer. Somewhere between the recognizable and the abstract, her paintings leave space for interpretation, memory, and the feeling of being outdoors—where color, movement, and wildlife all share the same untamed rhythm.
Statement
I’m an artist based in North Carolina, working between abstraction and representation, using texture, layered marks, and gesture to reinterpret rather than replicate the visible world. My work emphasizes process and materiality, allowing images to emerge through intuitive decisions and physical engagement with the surface.
