Artist Bio:

Linda De Roche's paintings are vivid expressions of emotional complexity, created through a dynamic process that merges spontaneity with intention. What began as a deeply personal act of healing has evolved into a powerful visual language of color, texture, and rhythm. Working with multiple canvases laid flat, De Roche pours and manipulates paint in sweeping, fluid motions, allowing each composition to emerge organically while retaining a strong sense of deliberate form. The result is a compelling body of work that captures the visceral beauty of lived experience—raw, layered, and alive with intuitive energy.

Drawing inspiration from music, dreams, natural landscapes, and memory, De Roche crafts abstract paintings that are at once meditative and electrified. Her tactile brushwork and bold gestural swirls suggest a pulse beneath the surface, imbuing each canvas with movement and emotional charge. Though abstract, her pieces often suggest narrative moments- emotional peaks and inner dialogues rendered in color. There is a lyrical quality to her process, one that engages both heart and mind, inviting the viewer into a space where sensation and perception blur into one continuous flow.

The cover painting, "Masquerade", exemplifies this approach. With its swirling violets, flashes of crimson, and sensuous layering, the work evokes the complexity of human emotion concealed behind external facades. Rich in texture and psychological depth, Masquerade beckons the viewer closer, revealing new dimensions upon each glance. It is a striking representation of De Roche's ability to translate the inner landscape into a compelling visual encounter.

Artist Statement:

My inspiration originates from our travels, landscapes, as well as, relationships and memories. The pandemic stole this from all of our lives, temporarily.  As with most things in life, when they are taken away from us, it creates a yearning. When we travel, we make it our goal to find the ideal location that speaks to our souls. This makes the immersion into the area, the culture, the music and the magic unforgettable. It is the fabric of the adventure that you are hoping to create for your family. When I reminisce about our travels to Cinque Terre, and Porto Roca, I am absolutely engulfed in the emotional state that the memories conjure up. I can feel our happiness and love. I can smell the food, the coffee and the prosecco. Our daughter swings by the Mediterranean pool in her red bikini.  Tom and Aiden floating in the ocean like human bobbers. An old man handing out lemonade on the hiking trail to Vernazza. Wonderful memories of our spirits flying together, etched in time. I could smell the sea and feel the sky as I painted to “Into the Mystic.”
