Bio: is a painter from Rhode Island, known for her serene landscapes. Her work evokes the peaceful solitude found in nature’s landscapes and seascapes. Born in Westerly, Rhode Island, Lana studied at Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts before earning her MA in Art and Design Education from Rhode Island School of Design. After years of living and working in New England, she relocated across the country to San Diego, California, where the dramatic shift in landscape and light continues to influence her evolving practice. As both an artist and art educator, her work combines a deep respect for traditional techniques with a contemporary sensibility rooted in mindfulness and emotional stillness. Lana’s paintings often feature coastal scenes, and open skies rendered in soft, atmospheric tones. Her use of layered brushwork and naturalistic color pallet invites the viewer into a reflective state, emphasizing the restorative power of nature. Rather than depicting a specific place, her work seeks to capture an inner landscape, spaces that feel familiar, timeless, and gently removed from the noise of modern life. Inspired by the changing seasons, early morning light, and the movement of water, Lana’s work embraces a meditative quality. Each piece begins with careful observation and often evolves through memory and intuition. She is influenced by the luminist painters of the 19th century, as well as contemporary landscape artists. Lana has exhibited her work throughout New England and continues to teach art in community settings. Through her dual roles as artist and educator, she fosters a sense of calm awareness and visual literacy in others, encouraging a deeper connection to the natural world. She currently lives in San Diego where the coastal environment continues to inform her creative process.

Statement: I’ve had a passion for art since I could first hold a paintbrush at the age of three. Today, you’ll often find me in the studio, out teaching, or exploring some of my favorite places in Rhode Island and San Diego with a sketchbook or travel easel in hand. For the past three years, I’ve owned and operated my own art business, combining my love for painting with a deep commitment to teaching. With four years of experience as an art instructor, I’ve had the privilege of working with students of all ages, from toddlers discovering color for the first time to adults reconnecting with their creativity after work. Whether I’m leading workshops in schools, hosting paint nights, or teaching private lessons, I see each moment as an opportunity to share the joy and healing power of art. My practice also includes participating in local art festivals, painting commissioned works, and  continuing to grow my own body of artwork. At the heart of what I do is a belief that art is a powerful language, one that allows for self-expression, connection, and emotional insight. I draw constant inspiration from the quiet beauty of coastal Rhode Island and the vibrant, sunlit energy of San Diego, California. These two places, though vastly different, both offer a sense of peace and openness that informs my work. Whether painting a seascape, teaching a class, or preparing for an event, I’m always guided by the intention to create something that invites others to slow down, observe, and connect.
