Inner Works

$1,750.00

by Lori Bacigalupi

Acrylic on Canvas

24” x 24”

In distant Small Magellanic Cloud, young star cluster NGC 602 mirrors the early Universe—where only the simplest elements existed, and new stars continue to form. Amid dense dust and glow gas the artist has created an underwater world with a seahorse, we are never complete, always unfolding.

Lori Bacigalupi is an artist specializing in cosmic and celestial-themed paintings. Inspired by the vastness of the universe, her work explores the mysteries of the cosmos through vibrant colors, ethereal textures, and deep emotional resonance. With a background in design, she worked as an in-house designer for a major building firm before founding her own design company. Over the years, she has sold numerous works to private collectors and has completed commissioned for prestigious Sonoma wineries. For the past year, she has been creating pieces for a collection of 88 paintings aimed to encourage consciousness and awareness, beyond consumerism and the current political turmoil; asking people to see our shared human experiences through the cosmos, imagination and art. The Sacramento Fine Art Gallery currently is exhibiting two of the pieces and they are featured online in the Magnum Opus exhibit. She is going to be featured in the upcoming Hearts to Heart Art Magazine, Issue 9.

I was born in San Francisco and currently reside in the Sierra Foothills. After a decade of artistic exploration alongside a career in design, I have dedicated the past year to pursuing my artwork full-time, using painting as a means to explore themes of human connection, imagination, and humanity’s place in the universe. As a painter working primarily with acrylic on canvas, my work has been described as surreal and imaginative, blending abstract techniques with cosmic themes. My latest collection 88 Constellations, is an ongoing series inspired by NASA’s breathtaking imagery from JWST and Hubble. Each painting reflects on our shared history, unity, and connection, inviting viewers to look beyond Earth and contemplate something greater than themselves. My innovative process includes using fire to manipulate acrylic paint and fine needles to apply contrasting colors, ensuring that each piece is one of a kind. Through my art, I seek to provoke awareness beyond social conditioning.
