Keri Halvorsen is a San Diego multidisciplinary artist whose work spans acrylic painting, murals, fiber arts, and handcrafted jewelry. Drawn to both bold expression and quiet contemplation, she finds inspiration in the intricate details of the natural world, from mist-covered forests and weathered stone to the rich textures found of natural materials. Whether working with paint, fiber, or natural gemstones, she is fascinated by the way color, texture and light evoke emotion to tell stories. Her work invites viewers to slow down and discover the hidden beauty that often goes unnoticed.
Artist's statement:
I've always been fascinated by the details that many people walk past, such as a dewy spiderweb on a cool morning walk, the intricate patterns in leaves, wood and stones, and the ever-changing light as it moves across the landscape. I believe the natural world is continually generous with its beauty, and often reveals its greatest treasures to those willing to slow down and notice them.
Whether I'm painting, working with fiber or designing jewelry, I begin with a sense of wonder, exploring how color, texture, and atmosphere can work together to create pieces that invite you to be just as delighted as I am. I hope viewers don't simply see my work - I hope they experience it. If someone leaves one of my paintings or pieces of jewelry seeing the world with a little more curiosity, patience and deeper appreciation for the beauty in the details not usually noticed, then my work has done exactly as I'd hoped it would.
