Artist Statement
My work explores the space between observation and abstraction, using photography to transform familiar environments into layered experiences of light, atmosphere, texture, and emotion. I’m drawn to images that hold both immediacy and ambiguity — moments where reflection, movement, surface, or perspective begin to shift our sense of orientation and perception. The works submitted for this exhibition focus on iconic visual experiences tied to memory, place, and cultural recognition, ranging from Southern California coastal landscapes to roadside landmarks and intimate moments of connection. Whether atmospheric, cinematic, or psychologically charged, the images are rooted in a desire to slow perception and encourage deeper looking. My background as an award-winning film and video editor continues to influence the rhythm, structure, and visual flow within my photographic work.
