Bio: Celine has been inspired by art since childhood. She studied commercial art, interior design, and advertising in both Hong Kong and London, later working with several leading advertising agencies. Alongside her professional career, she also taught art to children and led charitable programs where she helped adults with special needs express themselves through creativity. These experiences deepened her understanding of art as a powerful, universal language. After many years in the commercial art world, Celine returned to her first love-- painting. She now works primarily with acrylics, drawn to their versatility and immediacy. Her process is intuitive and spontaneous—she does not confine herself to a single technique or style. One piece may emerge through energetic movement, while another evolves slowly through layered, meditative application. She often surprises herself with what unfolds on the canvas. In 2014, Celine moved with her family from Asia to Carmel, California, where she now lives and works. Her extensive travels across Asia, Europe, and the United States continue to influence the breadth and depth of her artistic expression. Her strong connection to nature and her surroundings informs her work, which is marked by an abundant use of vibrant color and a sense of dynamic balance.
Statement: Color is at the heart of my work, it’s how I speak, feel, and connect. I’ve always been drawn to the energy that vibrant hues can bring to a canvas, and I use them freely to express joy, emotion, and the beauty I see in the world. Acrylics are my preferred medium for their immediacy and versatility, allowing me to work spontaneously and intuitively. I don’t confine myself to a single style or technique. Each painting evolves in its own way, sometimes through bold, sweeping movement, other times through quiet, layered detail. I follow wherever the creative process takes me, often discovering something new in the act of painting itself. The themes that emerge in my work are always rooted in positivity. Whether inspired by nature, human connection, or simple moments of light, I paint with the intention of lifting spirits and sparking a sense of warmth in the viewer. To me, art is not just about aesthetics, it’s about feeling seen, connected, and reminded of the beauty that still surrounds us. If my paintings can offer a moment of brightness in someone’s day, then I’ve done what I set out to do.
