Artist Biography:

Cat Parsons Matsuda a.k.a. Pansons (a nickname from her time at Rollins College) is a San Diego-based painter specializing in mixed media and acrylics. Drawing from a diverse array of influences, from the vibrant and whimsical aesthetics of 1970s public school textbooks to the playful illustrations of children’s authors Ezra Jack Keats and Eric Carle, Matsuda works to create visual experiences that evoke the wonder and curiosity she felt as a child. Cat began her artistic career in technical theater, which led her to Washington, D.C. where she was able to work with other amazing artists at Arena Stage. She began her focus on painting again after the birth of her son in 2018 and was beyond delighted to move to San Diego in 2024.
